I wouldn't be surprised if all of a sudden that it does happen. Moto has a way of flip-flopping..

Moto and VZW have always treated the Bionic like the red-headed stepchild. It's been a great phone but I am sitting on 2 upgrades and am just waiting for a new Nexus phone to replace this poor, ignored phone.

but the flip-flopping seems to always be to screw Bionic owners, not help them :(

Yaa I have noticed that! I think after the ics update comes out and a couple bug fixes after that the bionic will be completely forgotten by Motorola and verizon

Does it really matter at this point? SafeStrap 2.11 was released with Kexec functionality which loads custom kernels into memory and circumvents the original completely. So I don't see why we would NEED the bootloader unlocked now except for maybe convenience's sake.

Just a few thoughts to add to this...

#1 - I would blame Verizon before I'd blame Moto, at this point anyway.

#2 - Twitter is the king of allowing a question to be answered with as little info as possible. In other words, Moto's response could've simply been meant to include the phones mentioned in the question, and not excluding or including any others.

#3 - I know the Bionic had some issues early on, but it's had, what, 4 updates since it was released? I can't remember exactly. And ICS is right around the corner. Hard to say it's been ignored. Has ICS been delayed vs. other Moto phones? Sure... but ICS caused a lot of issues with the Razr/Maxx for some people, so maybe that's a good thing.

JNTdroid makes some great points. The Bionic has been a decent phone and has got some updates to keep the phone viable. While I vent occasionally, I'd say overall, I've been okay with the Bionic (but I have not totally drank the kool-aide ;-). However, as I've mentoned in a pevious thread, beings my contract will be up soon, it's probably time to move on. Right now, the S3 is looking pretty good to me. Have a few months, will keep an eye open for what is on the horizon and how the S3 and OneX behave  I can only hope the folks on those forums are as sharp and as sharing as the folks on the Bionic forum!
