Install Swype on a ROM that doesn't have Swype

Is it possible to install Swype on a ROM that doesn't have it?
Can I just take the apk (if there is one) from stock and apply it to whichever ROM am I using or is there a compatibility problem?

Thanks.

It is the current Fission ROM - Vanilla FroYo FRF91 2.2.1
I followed instructions wiping system and cache.

There is only one keyboard option - the Android keyboard.

If Swype is still on my SD card somewhere, can I reinstall?

Thanks

There should be a folder on your sd card called fission with add on's. Boot into clockwork mount system, install zip from sd, choose swype for x, install

If you're trying to install the swype that came with the X, just move it to /system/app, change permissions so that they match everything else in that folder, and reboot.

If you're installing the swype beta, you need to remove the swype lib file first (just do a search for "swype" in root explorer and you'll find it). Then you can just click on the sqype beta and install it (no need to move it /system/app).

Yes there is. I learned something new today. Discovered similar folders for some other ROMs too.

THANKS! :)
