Innovation vs Public Safety

I say use some kind of seed in place of shot, seed is natural and cannot be traced. All you needs to do is incapacitate it, and oops it went into my pool... Poof...

If it can run a Racoon off, ought to be good for a drone. And you won't have to clean it out of the pool filter

There are so many rules and regs that need to be brought on before this happens..I see it as a for of censorship... Which is more bull ...these clowns want to regulate everything.. Instead of letting commonsense, be the dictator...

I don't agree with letting the government micromanage anything ..because they want to micromanage EVERYTHING... I've had it with them regulating certain prescriptions because its a class 3 felony...and only certain man made hormones...screw the government

While I can understand your sentiment, the reality is that certain situations, this being one, is exactly what the government is supposed to regulate.

A recent example of a drone interfering with public safety happened where I live about a month ago

There was a very fast growing wildfire right on the edge of town, heading directly for town. They had to ground the air tankers because of a drone

I think certain classes of drones are able to fly high and far enough to cause these issues..regulate them.. The government thinks it should regulate all sorts of things..

We won't get political here..because I won't turn this conversation that way..but we all know the government can't keep their fingers out of stuff..because if you go against them...its more money for the big machine..

And let me pose this..drones got in the way of rescue vehicles..helicopters.. Right?? To ever flown in a rotor wing?? I have and we've bounced seaguls off of the canopy and even hit a flock of ducks with the rotors..I'm pretty sure they did more damage than most drones..no I see that it was air tankers... Seriously... SRSLY?? Ever been in a c130?? They can take out a bird or birds or a plastic airplane in nothing flat..I'm having a hard time seeing that..sorry ghost rider...we need to ground voodoo 120 because we have a 2 lbs plastic square flying around..

They really wanted to do something.. They'd use jammers. Jammers would bring any drone down in nothing flat..and would negate the need to tax people further for something..

But the most expensive drones I've personally seen are about 4k and made our of nearly the same ready to crack plastic..that my sons 40$ drone is..

Why do they really want to regulate drones?? I'm far from a conspiracy theorist..but I think it has more to do with what people can see with them...and what can be transmitted before the government can shut em down..they didn't do this with rc choppers or planes...but the more stable platform makes for more users..and with software like parrots...anyone can get good footage of nearly anything..

But to shoot at my own "thoughts" ..rc enthusiasts are far from stupid and will make it so if the signal is scrambled.. The platform will descend or climb or just go to a safe point, or they will use rotating frequencies.. Like security cams can do..wouldn't be hard to adapt..

Also..there are some ultra fast platforms..there will be people who will utilize these just to mess with the government.. Look up the Australian underground.

I don't want to sound like I'm just being argumentative.. But the government has their hands in way too much.. And they're always finding new things to "regulate"... Welcome to America.. Where we can do what our government says...and claim thats freedom.

I understand the need for certain laws..but to me it makes more sense to have plausibility laws in effect for if a scenario happens..but not laws to try to prevent every scenario. ..

But in the end..the government will probably try to control the electronics that enthusiasts can buy, with the intent of keeping these damaging pieces of equipment away from the wrong(aka non government) hands..what's next?? Soldering stations? 2 lbs spools of rosin core solder and 3/8 chisel tips??

We can go round and round I suppose, I have a pilots license, fly fixed wing, and while I've never had a bird strike our any other kind, I did have a helium balloon scare the living crap out of me on takeoff.

Why they wouldn't fly after the drone was spotted I can only guess, I think a dc10 ingesting one at low level could be disastrous.

Can't argue about the government, it is certainly a disgrace, but until people become responsible for their actions and exercise good judgment I'm not certain there is an alternative.

My RC heli can only go about 200 feet away. My buddy has a phantom 2 or 3 quad-blade drone that seems to go for ever. You can see the video streaming on a phone. It's insane.

Now they have drone races. The ones I've seen are underground non-sponsored but they are in old warehouses. These things haul ass. I don't want to get hit with one.

That's the Australian underground I was talking about...speeds up to 100 mph approx..
