Info on phone strength

I am a happy Galaxy Nexus but ready to upgrade. Is there a way to find out which phones are better than others? The biggest weakness of the Nexus is that I can't get a signal at 3 out of 4 daughter's houses.

Yes, my question was going to be do you know anyone else who is on another carrier and gets better signal in those locations.
