IMDb App Hits Android Market

On 06.30.10, In Apps, by Kellex

The greatest movie database on the planet has finally come to our Android handsets. The IMDb app just launched and is available for free in the market. Check showtimes, release dates, TV listings, or even search for celebrity gossip. Today is a great day for movie aficionados.

You can even watch movie trailers straight from the app…

Seldom use imdb for current movies but it's a treasure trove for researching old films and actors. Very happy to see it on the android platform.

Anyone know what this brings to the table that Fandango / Flixster doesn't?

As I already have both of those I don't see why I would need IMDB.

IMDB is pretty cool and the website is hard to use but this app sure takes a lot of clicks to get to the place I usually want to go (that being "What was that guy in?")

Open App
Find Current Movie
Click On Movie
Click on All Cast
Click on Actor
Click on All Filmography
Click on Actor

I am not expert in those apps but I think IMDB is a completely different thing, it's a database of movies etc. It's my first port of call for "What was he in", trivia on movies, detailed reviews and explanations of things I didn't understand, etc. etc.

Or you just click the menu button on your phone, select search, and type in their name.

The easy answer is that it is free so just try it and find out.

But I love Flixter. It excels at telling you about movies, movie times, nearby theatres. THose are things I will use it for.

IMDB is great for Factoid's and Research on Movies. It also has alot of information about TV shows, recaps, etc that Flixter does not even touch.

A combo of Flixter (which I prefer over to Fandago because of the Rotten TOmatoes integration) and IMDB, you are set for apps on TV/Movies (not for streaming of course, just for basic information and reference).
