That's not quite how it works. They don't disable the check for update feature to prevent people from receiving the update. At the beginning, the update is pushed out to random groups of IMEI numbers. If your number isn't in the update list, you'll just get the "your device is up to date message," which is true as far as the system is concerned. Then, as they expand, they'll add more IMEI numbers to the "allowed" list so to speak until everyone is there.
I asked this a short time ago and ill ask again lol.. do they send out updates over the weekend? I know that notification said within the week so.. does that include the weekend lol

I am going to be extremely upset with Big Red if they push the update tonight for a few reasons:
1) I will be drunk and get so excited that it's available, I will stop whatever I'm doing to install it.
2) While #1 is happening, I will be missing out on some serious drunk texting.
3) Since #2 will be limiting my abilities to drunkenly interact with various women of my past, it will be rooster blocking me.

Same basic concept, meaning you can't just sit there and mash the "Check for Update" button until it starts, unless luck of the draw has you hitting it when you would have gotten it anyways. Just helping people not waste their time mashing a button for no reason.
