I can't remove social networking service

I have renamed socialmessaging.apk, socialshare.apk, statuswidget.apk and friendfeed.apk and the corresponding .odex files all to .bak file extensions, yet in Applications/Manage Applications/Running I see "Social Messaging Service" Version 2.2 running. I cannot force stop it either. I have rebooted and pulled the battery. Any ideas?

Titanium backup tells me that the Social Messaging service is "blurSNMessagingengine.apk". Guess I have to leave it in place
