Well I guess i the 14th rolls around and the phone isn't available then we know for sure it was delayed, I just don't want to have to go all the way into best buy Monday and have them tell me it didn't come out yet, because I have a scheduled time to pick it up at 1 pm. So we will see

You can always call ahead before you leave...

Thunderbolt Dummy Units Arrive in Stores Showing 2/14 Date - Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog

Are you freaking kidding me?!?! Worst phone launch ever! Get your ish together VZW! Hopefully the delay is just until 2/24, and Verizon stores get it at the same time as Best Buy stores. It sounds like the phone and accessories are ready to go, they are possibly just waiting on the readiness of the software for mobile hotspot capability or Skype Mobile functionality. I probably won't use either the first few weeks, so just release it already!!!!

Verizon has never given a release date.

I know that Verizon has never officially released a date. However, we have had a multitude of "leaks" that although speculative, seemed to give us an idea of when to expect the phone. I'm just frustrated at how much of a fiasco waiting for this phone has turned into with all the rumors and delays and changes. I've been researching this phone since August when we first found out about it, and waiting for release since November when it didn't come out. Now I'm simply getting tired of the game and just want my new phone in my hands.

Seriously, I'm tired of being jerked around. All Verizon is doing is outsmarting themselves. If they would just give me something concrete I would be much happier. I already know my family is staying with them so I just want to know when I can ditch this lame flip phone but no, that would be too damn simple...ok, that's my rant

It'll be worth the wait. You don't want a bad phone off the bat. I'm stuck with my storm still, but I'm trying to just let it go cause I know this is the phone I want. It will eventually come out and Verizon will have to let us know at some point. They won't just release the phone without announcing it. I know everyone wants the phone also, but it will be worth the wait.

agreed, i don't think i've ever seen so much uncertaintity with the release of something. It has gotten old fast. Guess I'll have to try and focus on something else so the next week or two go by without notice. Shame our culture has no patience... give ma phone now!

Enough with battery life, and ever continuing postponements, I'm going back to the phone which served me best.

Ewwww Nicad battery. I remember my dad having this back in the day. We are still using the same old account with verizon.

"back in the day"?! your dad?!?! I had one of those, and it wasn't "back in the day"!!! ;) i agree, tho - one of the best phones i ever had!!

Wait, if it looks like the issues are software related couldn't they just release them and send out an update in the next couple weeks? I know that one reason people want it is for the previously mentioned features but I think a lot of people want just because they need an upgrade...like me =/

You would think they could do that. I thought that's what they planned on doing at first, because initially this phone was scheduled for release in March but got pushed up into February. Now we know it might not have been ready for that? So while they hypothetically could just send out an update 2 weeks later, maybe they decided to just wait so they could release it with full functionality of mobile hotspot and Skype, and give the iPhone craze a couple of weeks to blow over, instead of rushing a release.

I assume if they were planning on release the TB on the 14th or anytime in February for that matter that thousands of TB have already been produced. If it is software that is delaying the release, do they have some kind of mass update for all the phones that have/haven't been shipped to best buys or vzw stores. I know they can send out updates over the air but does that mean all the TB sitting on palettes are turned on? Just wondering how the whole thing works if anybody knows. Thanks

At first I was ready to get all over the iPhone hype but then I saw this and my family missed the iPhone pre-order I said screw iPhone. I feel like anyone who does the slightest amount of research should be able to find the right phone for them and the release dates being close to each other wouldn't matter. I guess I'm giving the masses too much credit. My old phone just barely functions anymore so this is all getting incredibly frustrating. I mean the damn thing turns off when I put it in my pants pocket!

Good question...

Lol I was 7 when he got it (1997) 20 now. One rep told me that it was releasing 14 at my local store. However I am still taking it with a grain of salt as they had just gotten there and not checked their email or anything.
