Yes I know what it is but is it just super good quality or what
From my understanding one of the main advantages is that it uses data instead of minutes. LTE uses 700mhz wavelength that travels farther with better building penetration. So you are more likely to get better call quality in current dead spots. ( When Lte is in your area. )

Technically speaking since it's voice over data it could result in unlimited minutes at a much lower cost. (just the cost of a data plan) This would likely be many years in the future though (3G still isn't everywhere yet) and I doubt Verizon would actually want to reduce any prices until they have to. Call quality should improve too...

It will work over 3G as well.
The technology to talk and surf at the same time on a 3g CDMA network does not exist. If it did, this capability would be a selling point for all of the existing smartphones and upcoming ones...dx2, etc... It is only (lightly) mentioned with 4g phone's. Hence, a 3g and 4g network is required to do this. 3g doesnt have the bandwidth to do both at the same time.

Honestly, this wouldn't be as frustrating for everyone had BB not released information saying 2/14 and then take pre-orders. That's basically been the cause of all the complaints about the back and forth with the release date. Had BB said nothing and advertised nothing, we'd still be talking about end of February/early March. Regardless though, Verizon should be doing some damage control, and the tight lip is just making it worse. We're use to the silent treatment, but this is your opportunity to be pumping up the LTE market. Looks to me like they need a new marketing strategy.

In the end, it really doesn't matter to me because this looks like a pretty kick butt phone and I'll be happy when I finally get one. The closer we get though, the less exciting it gets with features being removed. Granted nothing is confirmed, but not having skype video which was it's big selling point and CES, and not having Voice LTE... how is this any different then a more powerful 3G phone. I'm not too concerns about downloading music or apps faster. Streaming music and video is fine on 3G given what's available. Yes, the future will be great when we can easily stream HD video, but until then, Verizon's FIRST LTE phone looks more and more like a bust. Yes it'll still be a great phone, but this was Verizon's opportunity to blow the competition out of the water. EPIC FAIL!

No phones will have Voice-Over LTE until 2012.

I think that Verizon knows this isn't their chance to "blow the competition out of the water" with AT&T bringing out the Atrix and all. It's just their way of introducing the first LTE phone on their network. To be honest, the only way the Tbolt will sell well is if it has the Droid name. If it doesn't the first LTE phone to sell well will be the Droid Bionic. The "Droid" name means a lot to people (besides those tech savy) so when they see Droid, they think it's going to be great.

I really don't think the Atrix will be that great. AT&T isn't going to have LTE until the end of the year, so it's just going to be their 3G on steroids. Plus I heard some problems with the phone performance being a bit laggy.

More like same speeds... Tested their hspa+ and there was no diff.
