HTC Thunderbolt Release Date

My company is partners with Verizon for EOBRs on cell phones in the trucking industry. I'm at corporate for meetings this week and one of our new sales guys on that side of our business was just at a tradeshow with Verizon and got to play with the Thunderbolt at the show and said it's amazing. Another guys wife works for Verizon so he called her while we were at dinner last night and asked her when it was going to be released. She's saying the 28th. Another friend of mine knows someone in Verizon corporate. He said he cannot say when it's coming but that we'll love everything about it other than battery life which he admitted to her is bad. He did tell her the reason they're delaying the Thunderbolt is because of the IPhone and not for technical reasons. At this point, I don't know what to believe when it comes to this phone. I just wish Verizon would release it already.

Preordered mine last night the sales lady opened up the employee news letter online and it showed a hard release date of Feb 14 (Subject to change) and a price of 249.99. I hope the date stays the 14 I sold my D1 and have to ship it out on the 19th.:icon_eek:

now thats funny. it cant be very hard if its subject to change!

Interesting -- I was told $199.99, which I recognize is different from the $249 rumors; maybe the BB rep I talked to was smoking something...

I still think that we need to give the iphone its day in the sun (like today and the rest of this week). then we will be able to infer just how contractually bound VZW is to the Apple legal machine.

249.99 minus 50 is 199.99 ... he likely factored in your preorder.

No it doesn't , I switch carriers every year when it's time for an upgrade . In my area I get similar speeds with ATT , VZ , Sprint and T-Mo so why should I wait 6 months for a striped down version of a Dual-Core phone when I can get an Optimus 2x from T-Mo or Atrix 4G from ATT next month , maybe even an HTC Pyramid .

There is too much dramatics over here, its a phone and its just a couple of weeks, how many peoples lives will be drastically changed because of a release date? How many lives were drastically changed because of the iPhone 4?

Apple is just a company out to make decent products for a PROFIT... like every good company that lasts, so what?

Back to the TB: My BB people are nice, but they dont ever know what they are talking about, so I will just assume its not the 14th... but if it does come out then :icon_ banana:dancedroid

I hope they release this phone soon. Contract has been up since 7/25/10 and I have been fighting off the urge to get a new phone for quite a while. This BBS2, replacement for a belly up BBS1, just plain sucks. A few guys in the office have Iphone 3gs and were advising me to go with the 4 and be done, but I just can't do it yet.

I really want the Thunderbolt, but the constant battery pulls on the S2 are DRIVING ME INSANE. Come on Verizon throw me a bone please :blink:

they guy in the wirefly vid said it had a lcd display........ is it a lcd or slcd?? cuz now im just confused. i always thought it was a super till he did the unboxing and review but he did not seem to bright haha!!

not sure if that qualifies as the super lcd, I understood from hearing about it that it has a super lcd

It does have slcd. wvga refers to resolution. Tft has to do with contrast.

Super LCD. Wirefly guy is just that a Wirefly guy.. The first vid was Michael with HTC.. Plus at CES it stated that it was Super LCD and amny other threads and posts and spec sheets show the same...

I don't think we will hear anything about the TBolt from Verizon till the 14th at the earliest. That's the first day of the MWC, I have a feeling we will get some info (release date, 4G price, Hot-Spot pricing, etc) then. Verizon is all about the iPhone right now, which is understandable. Even though it's hardware is kinda sad next to the TBolt (with exception of battery life and screen resolution), it's a much higher profile device.
