The Huawei Mate 8 can now be rooted! In order to root the Mate 8 you will need an unlocked bootloader. There are a few ways to go about this. The legit OEM method requires you to Make a Huawei ID and stay logged in for 14 days before being able to unlock the bootloader through their developer website. The second method requires no waiting and cost about $4. The DC-Unlocker Software is also probably the easiest way to get the specific bootloader unlock code for your phone. Once you have the code simply place your phone in fastboot mode and run the command "fastboot oem unlock (bootloader unlock code).
Once your bootloader is unlocded you can root your Mate 8 pretty easily. All that is required is that you flash TWRP in fastboot mode. Then you will flash SuperSU from within TWRP. Pretty simple stuff. Once you have an unlocked bootloader and custom recovery you will be able to play around with some custom roms. Head to the link below for all the proper download links.
