how to delete recent driving directions in navigation?

I am not able to figure out how to delete the recent searches and directions in maps/navigation? The directions now come up in my layers on maps, and I would like to get rid of them. Thanks, hope someone can help..

It's not possible as of right now. You used to be able to do this in a previous version of Maps by going into the application settings and clearing the Map app's cache, but you can no longer do this. The Google Maps team is aware of this issue and they are working toward a resolution.

i was able to until i did the upgrade this weekend. now i cant. i had used it 3-4 times in the last week since i got the phone and never had a record of them. now they stay in layers.

As far as I know (I haven't deliberately tested it) turning off the phone and back on might wipe out the maps cache. Of course turning the phone on and off is a hassle in itself.
