How to access SD card on PC?

when i plug my phone into the PC i can access the phones hard drive but it doesnt give me an option to mess around on the SD..can anyone help me?

If its like my d2g then it shows as the internal memory but is actually the sd card your accessing.

actually what you are seeing is the sd card. To my knowledge you cannot access the hard drive without being rooted. So when you mount to your pc you are actually seeing the sd card.
