How many encrypt your Droid

I am on a mission to drastically improve security. One option is encrypting the phone, are there any disadvantages to doing this?

As for current files, I have my Titanium backup files encrypted, but nothing available for using voice security other than what is carrier-set.
I used to have a Star-Tac with DES voice encryption, but nothing since moving to Android.
I don't like spies, and if my files can be tampered with, then i should post my life on a billboard for all to see.
