How do you properly remove bloat from razr?

How should i go about taking the bloatware out? Ive heard a few different ways to do it

Get a file explorer with root capabilities and RENAME the files. Or, use Titanium Backup to freeze them.

Guidot is 100% correct. Do almost anything other than actually deleting the apps. There are threads all over the net from people asking for help with their phones after having deleted the wrong app and now all they get is constant Force Closes instantly after opening their phones. Rename the apps from xxxx.apk to xxxx.apk.bak and you can then change the names back if bad things happen.

I've read that updates will be dependent upon all that bloatware being on the phone. So if you want to get the update that is imminent, you need to be able to restore to stock easily.

Agreed. Bloatware freezer or titanium backup is the best way to get rid of any unwanted apps without deleting them. I never delete apps unless there's a way to recover all of them like an sbf file.

So suppose you can rename an apk file and it causes no trouble. At that point, would it not be "safe" to do a Titanium Backup of said app (I suppose you'd need to rename it back to it's original name) and then use Titanium Backup to do the removal of said app? For example, I've removed (using TiBu) Amazon Mp3, Facebook, and Twitter... but since I have backups, I can restore them at any time (like when a ota occurs). Since I'm still using my D1, an ota is rather unlikely and of course space is at a premium for me. If space were not an issue... removing it isn't an imperative obviously.

And as of this writing it hasn't been more squirrely than usual...

I suppose you could do that. I would keep the apps in a separate folder on the SD card or even on your computer just in case the recovery thru TB doesn't work....but that's just me.

I renamed the apk's to bak's with Root Explorer on mine and the apps are still there and loading just fine. Am I going to have to use TiBu and freeze them? Or just use Root Explorer to move them to another folder on my Sd card?

You guys put a lot of thought into this... My feelings are that once we have the SBF files , who really cares? I don't bother anymore trying to restore files or go out of my way to get a phone ready for an ota... Just SBF.... I have done my phones probably 60x no exaggeration.. Also saved many friends phones from being sent back to Verizon.... My procedure is SBF,activate, sign into google,reroot, then download mybackup pro and restore your data and use its toolbox to freeze any bloat. My phones run so nice after the SBF... It seems to wipe them better than a factory reset.
