how do you edit the system file?

I've read of people editing the the system file to turn off stagefrieght. I would like to do this as some videos cannot be played with my current setup. I've opened the file up and edited the text but it wont save.

Are you rooted, and have you mounted the system partition read/write?

If not, that explains your issue. You can not save to a read only filesystem.

I am rooted. I have mounted it but when I restart it is still read only. Do I need to do something else to make it read/write?

Restart? Don't know if things are different with the DI but while you're looking at the files with whichever app, you should be able to change to read write permissions then make your changes. Not restarting the phone

Sent from my Droid using DF app

What app are u using to change the permissions? I use astro to find the file, then open as text, open in text editor, make changes but the changes won't save. I've mounted/unmounted from the recovery screen and no change.

I could not get Astro to work for me so I tried Root Explorer. It allows you to go from R/O to R/W. In R/W it will save your changes.

So I just got root explorer. ive been holding out cause I didnt wanna pay
PHP:
for it but it was well worth it. It makes stuff like this very easy.
