How do I set up a google powered school email on my phone?

My school requires that we have an email account through the school to received emails from professors and the school it self.

The email is a Powered by Google. So naturally I tried setting it up as a Google account. Apparently that's not how to set it up.
What I need to know is how to set it up so I can receive the emails on my phone. Thanks in advance.

My university (Rutgers) is beta testing the gmail switch and it worked fine for me. I just added it as a normal gmail account but changed security to SSL on both the IMAP and SMTP servers, also I changed the smtp address.
