How do I send text?

I know this is going to sound pretty lame but I have never had a need to send or receive a text message but now find that it might be useful. I have a Droid Global phone but I have no idea of how to text. Can somebody out there give me a simple tutorial. I'm an old fogey so please keep it simple. I just want to be able to send and receive text messages from my grandkids. Thanks in advance for your kind help.

There should be an app in your app drawer that has to do with messaging. open up that app and then text away!

Open up your apps.. scroll till you find Text Messaging.

you can also send a text message from your list of contacts.

• go to your contacts
• select a contact
• there should be a envelope icon on the right next to their phone number.
• tap that envelope icon and enter your message.

Thanks to all. I think I have it figured out now with your kind help. Now all I have to do is contact Verizon and turn texting back on. I had them turn it off a few years ago because I was getting texts from political campaigns. I have now found that texting might be the better way to contact people over email and cell phone. All I have to do now is file down my fingertips so I can punch the right buttons. Thanks again all,
