How do I keep keyboard light on

When I open my droid the keyboard light will come on but will go out in about 10 seconds. Anyone know how to keep it on until I close the phone? It doesn't even relight when a button is pressed.

In addition the 4 main buttons go out as well. This makes it hard to use in complete darkness. TIA
