how do i fix sms error?

I've tried everything except a factory reset but started getting an sms error on thursday but now can't get rid of it. I deleted the two apps I installed thursday but still no luck.
Don't really want to do factory reset because I've done that too many times already and I am not rooted. What would verizon do if I call them about the error?

It's likely a tower issue. I had this problem a couple months ago and they basically made me do a factory reset which fixed nothing and then filed a trouble ticket. A few days later it started working right again and then they called me and said there was an issue with the tower here.

what am i supposed to do in the meantime? I have noticed that my signal went from 4g most of the time to only 3g now. But back to the question that is how I talk to people is text and if text doesn't work???
