I've heard about rooting. I did that with my old Palm Centro. I'm slightly hesitant to do that on my Droid for some though ^_^;

Root is pretty quick on a D2 Global. Z4Root should have it done in no time at all. And then there's custom roms, the real fun in having an android .

I haven't bothered with custom roms yet on mine, but you can do titanium backup of apps and data, wireless tether to anything, change my boot animation, a few of the things I've done so far.

Root makes it so you can overclock, undervolt, install custom ROMs, custom themes, performance tweaks, and just about anything else.
