How calibrate compass on droid 2 global?

I have the same problem, but for my original Droid 2. Ill sit there following the instructions I was given for 15 minutes then give up.

I am having a similar problem. The compass will calibrate, but it seems to be wrong when I use the maps or navigation apps. I wonder if it is tied to the Fission ROM. I think I will flash back to the stock ROM and see if there is a difference. It appears that the compass is stuck in one position at the moment. It may be that it is hardware related.

I am at work right now, so I will have to wait until I get home to flash.

I've found it's best to do it on a flat surface, ans spin the phone in each direction 3 or 4 times. You should be in an openish area, away from other electronic devices (the interference is what causes the inaccuracies and the red ring)... I found I had better results just by moving 3 feet away from my laptop and laying my phone on the counter. I spun it in each direction 3 times, on all three axes.

You can also calibrate the device with the keyboard open - there's a different screen that comes up when you slide it out.

I read on some forum, and had the same experience, that you can only calibrate each "face" (keyboard closed/keyboard open) once, and that attempts to do it again will result in the the red compass. After I did a factory reset (for a different reason!) I was able to calibrate again.

Alright, good info here. I will do a factory rest and recalibrate. I have noticed another problem now. The gps seems to be off also. I know I am facing north and the compass and map are telling me I am facing east. Go figure.

I had the same problem. I got it to turn red all the time but for some reason it wouldn't turn green. I read on here about calibrating it with the keyboard out and turning it three time in a row for each axis and it work finally. :) Then I closed the face and turned it on each axis at least 3 times and it worked.

I experimented and tried to re-calibrate it a few time but it doesn't work everytime. I guess it doesn't hurt to have a little luck too.

I've also read that you can powered off, remove the batery and power on again. Then put the phone through one cycle of the animation shown and Green compass should show.

Good Luck.

I don't know if you noticed, but except for yours, these posts are from back in January. Anyway, one poster said to lay the phone on a flat surface to calibrate. I guess you'd spin it clock-wise then counter-clockwise but what is the third axis if it's laying flat?

Spinning it in both directions, clockwize and counter, while on the same surface is only considered one axis I believe...my guess is that it needs sat in a different position to be on a different axis, since spinning in only the opposit direction as the original position is simple that, just spinning it in a different direction, not a different axis... ..but, I could be wrong..don't think so tho
