I think we are seeing it in both camps: tablet and phones.
Tablets: around 10 inches.
Phones: around 4 1/2.

What? You want a 17" tablet? lol

How much bigger can it get before the device is to big to carry in your pocket.

Streak to big for me.
And to small for a taglet. Which would explain the lousy sales numbers.

DroidX is to big for me as a phone. But that it the largest I would personally go.

Agreed. Played with a Streak at BB. Nice screen size, but only if I don't have to carry it. It is in no man's land. As you said, too big for a phone and too small for a tablet. I think that 4.0" is the perfect compromise for a phone. Just a little bigger than my Droid. I think the 4.3" phones are too big. I'm hoping for a 4" screen on the Droid 3. If I did get one that was 4.3" then I would at least want it to be qHD.

+1 my d2g's screen is the perfect size for me. Kinda hard to keep anything bigger in a pocket without it feeling weird.

Edge to edge screens would allow handset makers to add in the neighborhood of 0.25" to 0.5" to the screen size with zero impact on total phone footprint.

I could see something like 4.5" becoming standard if improvements were made in this area. Give it a year or two ;)

completely agree here.
IMO, the DX is about as big as i would want in a future phone. however if they could shrink the bezel down to a mm or 2, we could squeeze a 4.5" screen in there....make it qHD or even 720HD, and i would drool all over it.

after having the 4.3" DX for the past few months, i cannot see myself going under 4" ever again.

I have a DX and wouldn't want anything smaller. It is unusual for me to talk on the phone more than 15 min. a mo. I would like a larger screen, the only thing is how do you carry it and when you do use the phone how do you use anything much bigger. I guess you could carry it in a case and use a bluetooth, but I hate those things sticking out the ear. Maybe a small tablet with a phone in it
