Wow. Sorry for your loss. I usually have around 17-20 down on my Note 4 at home and work. I'll post my results when I actually get the 6P (hopefully tomorrow!).
PC or someone posted a story about radio tests with the Huawei P8 and some other flagship phones...a Samsung, though I can't remember which. The Huawei seemed to perform the best, so that's good. Hopefully they've continued the trend. Seems like they might've if what you're saying is true.
VZW on my old note II is all over the place. Some evenings at home I barely get 2 or 3 mbs. Think they know I have a remembered WiFi and throttle it so I'll use it ? Because 2 mile away at work I see good speeds, and sometimes ridiculous ones ... like 60mbs!
I should get my Fi sim today, it will be fun to roam about town doing side-by-side comparisons.
I'll post SpeedTest results once I've captured a decent sample.
this is from my old NoteII - I think speed is a network thing more than a phone thing.
we'll see if I get a comparale result tomorrow with the 6P, I'll go to the same place at the same time to test.

I'm not sure if it's been deployed here or not, but since my old Note II is an antique, could it use it if they had ?
Don't be too impressed, this is the exception not the rule. Early a.m. - even though the screenshot was from a couple of hours later, about a block away from a corp store that has a tower on the roof.
I've seen @Mustang02 's speeds in my living room at suppertime, only 2 miles away.
According to the info I just scanned quickly in a search result, some phones just need a software update to take advantage of xlte. Couldn't find a list that support it. Though, I didn't dig too far.
