Home screen - more functional/more information

I switched from a Blackberry to a Droid and miss being able to see on the homescreen what has come into (messages, emails, calls) my phone without having to click on each icon. Sure, the tiny indicators at the top are nice but I'd like to see on the homescreen more information on each of those call, etc. The Blackberry used to have many homescreen options but I don't see any on the Droid. If a more functional home screen exists, where can I download it?

You could use widgets to get the functionality that the BB theme gives you. I know what you are referring to, I have a BB for work.
