hi all, noob here

Relatively new to all this rooting stuff,i did manage to do it to my evo on sprint network with old OS.
That being said if anyone has any advice for me or articles to read that would be great cause i don't understand all the tech lingo here,i now have the razr maxx with 4.0.4 on it and want to root it in order to try and get rid of Vznavigator since i can't stop it from opening everytime i put my phone in the nav doc and have no intention of posting for it.

Hello and welcome to the forum!!

You can use Matt's Utility to root ( http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dr...-droid-razr-utility-1-7-failsafe-edition.html ) and then Titanium Backup to freeze or rename the app (do not delete if at all possible)...

That's strange...my MAXX doesn't bring up VZNavigator EVER when I dock the phone. Did you go to Apps, Manage, and then uninstall any updates, then choose "Disable"? It should go away forever and no rooting needed (new feature in ICS).
