Hey I am new and need a stable rom for my rooted droid

Hello everyone. I m happy to be here as I have many times referred to this site for info. As of yesterday I am now rooted but I am having trouble because every rom I flash for my theme force closes like every other task that I begin whether it's selecting an app, going into the app drawer, hitting the menu key,...touching anything basically. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance, I am about to unroot and go back to stock if you can dig that.

When roms have you used and what speed are you OC'd at?

Define "theme" too. Maybe that's the issue. Did the theme work on an unrooted setup?

My first rom was Smoked Glass 4.5 and it has also been my only rom that I've flashed. Zero issues with it but there may be something good I'm missing on a different one I suppose.

Pete's bugless beast V1.1 (AllDroid - View topic - [ROM 2.0.1] Bugless Beast V1.1 (2/22/10) STABLE) is a very stable rom. Also, it loads with no overclocking and the you can select which kernel you want to try. I've been running this rom since about 30 minutes after Pete posted it. It is rock solid on my Droid.

I rooted with droidmod so what would be my best bet? Which rom shall I flash to work the best metamorph or bugless beast? Thanks for all the suggestions, best forum I have ever been on.:)

bb 7.5, might as well be stock its so stable

This is true. For me 7.5 and 7.6 were rock solid. I would not hesitate to go back to either of those.

This is what confused me when I went to root. I was going to follow Matt's instructions but I didn't know the difference between the version in the instructions and newer ones. sg4.5 seemed to be the latest and everyone was saying how good it was and I knew it was the latest version so I went with that.

I've asked this elsewhere, because I manually installed: with dmupdater can I apply BB, SS, SG, and other roms? when smupdater first came out it only let you install the sholes rom via the update.zip method. Bugless Beat also uses the update method but Smokeless Glass used nandroid recovery.

To the OP...you are going to get many answers I think. Any of the ones posted are stable according to feedback. Try one and if you don't like it the droidmod (dmupdater) tool will let you swap to another one on the list here.

going back to stck

I am about to go back to stock everyone. I have droidmod and can't figure out how to get a stable launcher. I would like to try the bugless beast but I heard that others were having trouble with that too. The stock never forced closed on me, rooting was cool but I think since I can't find a stable rom I will go back. Thanks everyone.

I watched this thread earlier today while I was trying to replace the Verizon Wireless on the lock screen and notification bar.

I concur that BB 7.5 is rock solid. On Feb 14, I used Matt's process and installed BB7.5 As of this writing, I've not had one force close or any other problem.

I'm not clear on your needs/wants are but you should give the BB rom a try.

Mike

Hey Mike cold you give me a link of complete instructions on how to install bb? Could I flash it with droidmod 1.0? Where would I insert the file after downloaded and exactly what contents in the rom folder need to be inserted? I think that's what I need to know. Thanks.
