you do not have to do this to root, but later you may want to install astro file manager from the market. It is free and will save you alot of time especially if you decide to install apk files IMO.

Just an FYI, we are working hard at the next release. We have many things we are all working on, it’s only been 10 days, just keep a look out for the future. We’re glad we can actually work on the cool stuff now. =)

Hello all, we are pleased to announce DroidMod v1.0.
Changes from SholesMod 2.0.6 are:
- New boot anim (DroidMod vs Sholes)
- 2.1 Live Wallpapers v1.1 thanks to xeudoxus
- DMUpdater included
- Wipe data but keep apps option (idea from krazykrivda)
- Themes have been removed, just use MetaMorph, it’s 10x better.

I'm going to root after the eventual release of 2.1 and subsequent rooting of it (I know it will happen), a close second to that is the just released batch of 2.1's.

Terribly painful day for me today, my Droid fell off my belt, in holster, took a knock in the metal frame corner only noticable up close, glass ok, all functions ok ... whew!

I have also downloaded DMUdater on my droid - again no wigit just in browser downloads. Clicked on the dmudater and installed now have the wigit. I am guessing I wont click the big file, yet.

May have a problem - when I click droidmod-164-1.0.rom.tgz I get "download unsuccessful" no application can be found to open this file.

Hoping this isn't supposed to be opened. Yes?
