HELP! Unable to boot into recovery

pull battery

slide out keyboard

hold x button

but battery back in (still holding x button)

hold power and x at the same time until you see the recovery screen.

Unfortunately that did not work for me. My goal is to have a complete new out of the box miui. I wasn't ever getting a complete wipe. I have formated my sdcard. 1,7 is working but I am unable boot into recovery.

My plan was to install 1.7 with a wipe and not sign into google. Reboot Into recovery And delete davlik cache. Wipe and install 1.7 again.

will this plan give me a clean system? Side note, I'm not near a computer to get this done. please tell me if you see any flaws in my plan.

problem solved by flashing recovery in rom manager eight times. thanks jam
