Parental control or whatever works to block me from receiving pic/video messages from particular senders without having messaging shut off alltogether.

Install Handcent for messaging.
It has a blacklist function.....

You will need to go into the setting of the stock app and disable it from retrieving messages or you'll get double messages.

You can also go to myverizon.com and block senders there too. And from their page:

Note: Effective April 15, 2010, only incoming calls and incoming text/picture/video messages will be blocked.

Just be aware that, for billing purposes, device-level blocking only works after your device technically receives the message. In other words, the blocked messages will still count against your package or you'll be billed for them.
