HELP! I lost my Incredible! Need to replace ASAP!

Some fish in the Atlantic Ocean just got a nice new cell phone. :(

I know that I have my contacts backed up with Verizon so that they can be uploaded when I get a replacement phone.

Here's the huge issue - I need need need my text messages. Is there any way that when I get a replacement phone, that my old text messages I had saved will transfer over? I had every text message from my girlfriend and I saved, and wanted to export them to a Word document to create a book for her birthday (~2300 texts in all) and they are also at the bottom of the ocean now. Is there any way they can be saved? It was basically the history of us leaning about each other, and was so special to us both.

Lastly, if the texts can be resurrected, can the pics/videos be salvaged as well? I came up to visit my family and have pics of my nephews that I'd love to keep.

What a great start to my birthday! Grrr.

Thanks all,
William

Sorry that you lost your phone! If you use Gmail your contacts are associated you google account and would be restored to any phone that you register.

As far as you text and pictures my sense is they are gone. VZW keeps tons of digital backups but they may or may not be able to provide it to you.

I'm moving your post to the Incredible general discussion section.

Any attempt to recover your text messages from Verizon may require the services of a lawyer, so keep that in mind when you contact them. Since this is a matter of some urgency, if they give you any kind of runaround talk to a lawyer post haste.

And in the future use some sort of SMS backup application and make daily backups from the SD card to your PC. :)

GOOD LUCK!

Thank you all for the replies.

Is there a way to have the SMS backup (or something similiar) added to the phone through either my verizon account online, or through customer service? Could an app be activated that way?

Thanks again,
William

really....... you learned everything about her via texting...:icon_eek:

I have an idea.... take her out for a dinner and learn some more about her via face to face for her birthday

Haha... We were introduced for about 10 seconds before church started, and I didn't get to see her again while I was in town (she lives 6 hours away from me), so while we were gearing up for our first date, we were trying to keep it as much of a blind date as possible, so I didn't get to hear her voice again until a month later when we went out on a date.

You used the stock browser correct?

Droid1 running UD v1 luna theme

I assume so - it's just the regular 'Message' icon on the Incredible.

I'm using a different verizon phone programed with my number until I get a replacement droid (either Incredible or X) (hopefully in the next week or so). So far as I can tell, the best deal for me would be to go through customer service where they should have either the Incredible or X as a certified pre-owned for around $150 with a contract extension. Are thereany other/better ways to do this?

Thanks again!
