HELP I have a really easy question!

Sorry I feel so stupid for asking this. When you go to download ROM files and they have a mirror with it what does the mirror mean? I wanted to download the new tranquility that just came out and there is the file and a mirror and I don't really get what mirror means. Sorry I feel like an idiot but I couldn't find a definition for it. Thanks.
