Hdmi out droid x

I rip my DVD, transfer to my SD card, i can play it on Droid X and HDMI out to TV no problem. The movies look great on the TV.

Anything that is in the Galery, playback no issue through HDMI. Now, I need to find the right setting for the conversion, well that is another topic.

I thought this process would work for movies one owns, but my understanding is that the Blockbuster downloads are not viewable through the HDMI out to TV. (I haven't bought X yet; I'm learning about all the bugs first from you all first - thanx!)

Yes, it is for movies that I own.

My format is mostly MP4, but I have a 720p file is M4v from my buddy.

I was told that blockbuster cannot play due to copyright issue? But someone said in the forum somewhere that youtube and others should be able to play through HDMI with Froyo update.

I too believe this hdmi out functionality will improve over time. Mot probably try to rush out this phone to compete against iPhone 4 and did not have time to cover all functionality. Give them more time and I am sure it will only get better. Apple did the same thing for some of their functionality. Didn't they take 3 year to get Multi-task to work?? LOL.

It was made pretty clear for the get go that HDMI was for in, not out. We havent reached the point of watching a moving on our 42" screed via HDMI and the Droid.

If some of you bought the Droid thinking this then I'm afraid you are in for a big let down.

They were thinking about the frequent flyer corporate head honchos who would be staying at the Hilton and plug the HDMI into the 50" TV to watch Blockbuster movies:r_c:

Ummm, the Droid X has a HDMI OUT.

Right you are; that is how they phrased it in feature lists, "HDMI OUT".

I just hope someone comes up with an app or so that allows you to forgo only using gallery for the hdmi out so you can use your phone for more than just a video player or photo viewer on screen....be nice to output like powerpoint or other documents if needed

So many potential uses . . I wonder why they would cripple such a groundbreaking phone feature.

I was just screwing around trying to see if I get it to work..... and just for a brief moment I got a flash on the TV of my phone's screen (at the time I was looking through through the files on the SD card.

It was just there for a moment but obviously it means the phone is capable of doing this. Maybe someone will figure out a way to get through this.

That's very good to hear!

I was told you could not watch your movies through the hdmi out.. I saw in the book it says "user generated content" which would be movies you recorded with the camcorder app right? But a couple people say they put there own ripped dvd through the tv out??? Can a few more people verify this please????????

I'm almost certain I had read that you could not do an output of 720P. That would be what the HDMI out would do.

Was it that you can't record in 720P?

you can record high def (720p) and you can use the hdmi out for what the book calls "user generated content" but people are saying they are streaming movies from the sd card through the hdmi out to the tv and this is what I want to do. I just want to make sure its true so hopefully someone will test this more and verify.

You can output movies via HDMI that you rip or download and put on the sdcard, just not movies through apps like Blockbuster.
