Has anyone tried Nav App "Waze"?

The app shows how heavy surface street traffic is as well as freeway traffic. App starts off ok but when I get off of one of the heavier traffic streets, the app "forgets" to follow.

Plenty of potential, especially here in LA.

I believe the Google NAV functionality utilizes surface street traffic as well (at least major surface streets)

I haven't noted anything of the sort. Would love it though.

I'll give it a try tonight, but since google maps on our phones utilizes traffic down to the surface street level, I would imagine that it uses that in the navi portion as well.

OK, just used navigation on the surface streets here in Chicago and when I went to traffic view enroute it pulled the traffic on the way. Wish I could take screenshots...
