Hard Drive Question/Help

Hey, I have an HP laptop, which has a DVD drive. I was wondering if I could hook up this drive though externally http://www.Newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=27-106-289 using this cable/adapter http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001OORMVQ

Why not just use a simple external dvd drive that hooks up via usb?

I need that drive specifically so I can backup my 360 games.

gotcha. Not sure though, haven't seen a setup like that before.
