Handcent SMS not playing ringtone?

I just installed handcent and love the extensive options and customization. However, I'm having an issue where it's not playing my ringtone notification. I go into select ringtone and if I click default, I hear the ringtone I want. Note that if I click any other ringtone in the list I hear nothing. When I do "test notification" I only get the pop-up and vibration. I had someone send me a text and same thing. Any suggestions?

nevermind, seems my notification sounds weren't playing anywhere. fixed with a reboot.
