Howdy lads (and lasses).
Just signed up here, because there seems to be a good wealth of information around.
I've originally always had Nokia phones, from the Nokia Communicator 9000 all the way up the E7, but Symbian is getting way behind these days and doomed a death, I'm afraid.
So I got myself a Samsung Galaxy S3, which really is a nice phone, but I do miss my physical keyboard for various reasons.
The Motorola Droid seemed to be the way to go. Unfortunatly that's not available in Europe. I got my fingers on a Droid 4 on eBay. The pitfall there was, that the battery in the phone had been damaged and when I went looking for a battery, they're all sold out right now. I should have a battery in the not too far away future. Shipping in the next days.
In the meanwhile, I've also got my fingers on a Droid 3, which might feel a bit old fashioned compared to the Droid 4. It's also not in as good a shape, as I'd hoped for. Whoever had the phone, used (or abused) it quite thorougly. But it seems to work. Only trouble right now is, that it never was SIM unlocked.
I've been talking to Verizon Global Services and they were really helpful, but because there is no current contract on the phone, they can't pull the unlock code off the system. He even tried to search using the Global Roaming SIM, so fair dues to him. I've ordered the unlock code via a third party service now (online job, 15$) and hopefully that'll do the trick.
In the meanwhile, I'm sitting with two Droids, I can't use. Bit of a waste, really. Anyhow, I'll get there. Eventually.
