TL;DR - Help me make a list of graphically intense games which natively support Droid Bionic. Please provide a link if possible, especially if the game is only available outside of Android Market.

Please check your Gameloft hate at the door. Yes, I despise their policy of side stepping the Android Market so they can disallow transfer of purchased games when you upgrade your phone, but that's not what this thread is about.

I'm looking for graphically intense games for Droid Bionic and am extremely disappointed with my findings. It appears that the game selection is very limited due to Droid Bionic's lack of Tegra 2. I'd like your help making a list of compatible, beautiful games.

I hear that I can download a hack (Chainfire 3D) to install third party graphics drivers, adding compatibility for some games. I have little interest in this unreliable workaround.

[Asphalt 5 removed: incompatible]
[Assassin's Creed removed: incompatible]
[Neocore (benchmark) removed: not a game]

Most of these are not really graphically intensive that you would need the Bionic to play. The samurai game is I know. Try Plants vs. Zombies or Fieldrunners. The EA Tetris game ran slow on my OG Droid but runs great on my Bionic. A lot of the games listed ran just fine on my OG Droid. Gameloft does seem to have some graphics intensive games.

I'm so glad to finally see a thread like this that actually addresses the Bionic and all the great (Gameloft) games that used to run fine on older droids (like my old Droid-X and OG Droid), but now many of them either won't play on the Bionic or will not fill the whole screen when playing which I personally hate about a game.

I'm sorry that I don't have any links to games that I can contribute here, but I can at least warn everyone that Chainfire3D (which was a GREAT app on my other devices) won't work at all at this point on the Bionic so I wouldn't waste too much time on it until there's an update for our device. I have already informed the developer of the app that it doesn't work but he doesn't have a Bionic so who knows if and when it will be compatible.

I personally was excited back in the day when hearing the rumors that the Bionic was going to be this 4.5" Dual-core Tegra 2 device and was disappointed to hear that it turned out to be a 4.3" OMAP device instead. Don't get me wrong, I still love the phone overall and I think highly of the OMAP processor but I knew that there were already a number of Tegra 2 titles out that I was hoping this new device would be compatible with and just play with no problems. But it seems like we have a whole new ball game now with the OMAP so hopefully we will start to see "Bionic compatible" versions of some of these popular titles REALLY SOON!! I miss all the games and apps that I had on my DX.

The other issue here is that dreaded 8GB of internal space that Motorola has (Stupidly) called "SDCard" which is now where you'll have to store all of your data folders for all Gameloft games because that's where they all have been set up to look for data! Unfortunately, Gameloft data folders can be huge, some are even over 1GB so that means you will only be able to pick and choose the selected Gameloft games that you want to put on your Bionic which pisses me off!! I called and told Motorola twice that it's ridiculous that my Bionic can't hold half the games that my DX had (I used to have ALL the Gameloft games on my DX at the same time) which aint happening on the Bionic.

Anyways, overall I love the speed of this 4G-LTE, Dual-Core goodness so please keep this post going so that we can all hopefully get all the great titles for this phone that are out there for other devices! Is anyone other than me waiting on Madden 12 for the Bionic? I search for it everyday in disappointment... :(

Thanks.

They choose the omap for a reason. It is faster and more efficient. In every way.

Actually, it seems the tegra devices might be a little faster but the omap is definitely more efficient and better in the long run.

I can believe that...but where are the OMAP games? Is the Bionic the first to use it? I never see anything anywhere that talks about titles that are for OMAP devices like you do for Tegra 2. Is this phone still considered to be PowerVR?

I read about a hack where you can make the Tegra games think your phone has a Tegra cpu. Someone did the hack and ran all of the games stutter free on the Droid X.

The Bionic isn't the first to use the OMAP 4 series. I believe that belongs to the D3 but I'm not sure. I think there will be more support when Prime or any more future devices come out with OMAP processors but right now, there are way more Tegra devices than OMAP.

The tegra titles are just games that are available in the tegra app store I thought. Software shouldn't be restricted by the hardware when it is the same OS. If I am wrong sorry for the misunderstanding.

Here are a few games that definitely take advantage of graphics on the Bionic... Not sure how intensive they are, but good nonetheless:

- Fruit Ninja
- Random Factor Mahjong (great tile game!)
- Cut the Rope
- Third Blade

Rocket Bunnies and Fruit Ninja would make my Droid X stutter a bit if I didnt have it overclocked.

Well I'm not sure but since NVIDIA is the one controling the Tegra app store, I think the software is restricting the games that hardware can play if they aren't tegra. I think I've heard of some Tegra games being hacked for other devices but I'm not too sure.

Since the OP mentioned a LWP, I found one for DOOM on the market the other day. Pretty awesome. You just see the DOOM guy walking up and down the screen killing all the classic DOOM monsters as they appear. There's even a setting in the options to "play" the live wallpaper.

May not be a testament to the graphic capabilities, but it definitely is to the phone's ability to multitask. I'll do everything and anything and have this thing going with 0 redraw when switching screens on the fastest setting. My X2 would've been choking to death at that point.
