Google Voice

I called from my office phone twice & left voicemails. The first one, I opened hangouts to make sure it was set to notify me properly & the message was there. The second one, I waited until the phone notified me. Took a minute or so. Don't remember it being that laggy.

A minute or so? Are we that impatient today? Freaking millennials!

How long does it take you to get a voicemail notification? I'm on-call 24/7. The quicker I can get a voicemail, the quicker I can assess the situation & remote in or stop by & go back about my business.

Also, I do not identify with that generation even if they claim my age group is considered a part of it.

Made my wife call me a bunch. Took over 3 minutes before I decided to go into the settings again & found her message. Before the last one, I verified my vzw number & that one notified me right away. Though, I was doing something else on the phone this time instead of it just sitting there. Think I'll make her try one more time.

Well, I'm getting notified quick now, but every other time she's called, it just stops ringing on her end & goes silent. Stays connected, but doesn't play my greeting or record what she says...

yeah, I've been using GV through Hangouts (is that still an accurate statement) for a while.

Regardless of which is which, I let my phone default to my cell number. But if I'm on long conference calls, I will dial directly from hangouts which is free VoIP (because I'm still on a limited minutes plan).

Quality seems to be pretty good. I've not had any complaints I can peg specifically to the Hangouts VoIP (there have been some issues, but it could easily be other people on cell phones or the conference call service).

Exactly how I use it too. I have the Nationwide Calling Plan with Unlimited Data and 1400 minutes per month for calls, so I need to limit the time spent on the phone with the cellular network. Having unlimited data makes it free to use VOIP both on WIFI AND on Cellular Data.
