Oh, I don't have access to a .edu account. I wish I did so I could get an invite. Thanks for letting me know.

paid $6.99 and had it in 30 minutes. Quit being so cheap. If you can make the sms work out for you, you don't have to pay verizon $5-10-20 a month for text messages anymore.

The ability to text from your computer at work is pretty nice too!

Military people---or anyone with a .mil email address can get a google voice invite direct from google by signing up with your .mil e-mail addy. This doesn't have to be the account you use to access google, just to get the invite, then you sign on with your regular account.

Search for "Google Voice Military Invite". This will get you an invite in 24hours or less.
