Google play, how to set phone?

I wiped my droid1 and needed to redownload all the apps from google play. But, many of the apps won't let me download them. They say they can't be installed on my phone. My phone used to be "Droid" or something. Now it says Verizon phone. How do I change what the phone is so I can download the rest of my stuff?

Try going to Google play using a regular computer. Sign in there with the ID that you normally use for the play store. You have more control that way then using the app. You can add and remove devices from there. That's what you want to check. You can even browse and download apps straight to your phone from the computer. Just make sure that your data is on if your going to download apps.

Well, I think I used to be able to do this, but when Google changed to the thing where everything is tied together, I can't find where to add/change devices. I do kind of like the new Play part where you can shop for apps online and send them to the phone. That is working for the ones it lets me.

So...for stupid ones like me, do you have step by step to get to the device part?

After you sign in on the main page scroll to the bottom of the page. You'll see "My Orders & Devices". Click on that. Then you'll see two tabs. Click on the Devices tab and then edit what you have.

After talking to Google support, they had me do many things, and finally told me to wait 48 hours. At approx hour 54 everything started working correctly and my Droid is now my phone. Yay! Hopefully I will never have to reset the phone again. :)

Glad to see that they figured it out for ya.

I'm having a similar problem, except I rooted up to 2.2.2 and so I can't use Verizon support.

Basically a month or two ago, Google Play installed itself and now it claims my device isn't supported for most apps, including ones that support android 1.6.

If anyone has insight into what is going on, or how to to force google market back onto my droid, I'd appreciate it.

My phone is rooted. They didn't ask and I didn't tell. I just told them I had to reset my phone, which is what caused the problem.

The first thing they made sure of was that I could logon to Talk. It has to be the same email and password that you log into Google with. Maybe that will work for you. If that doesn't work, then try calling anyway. I don't think it has anything to do with rooting the phone.
