I'm not sure if maybe I see a false signal right now but I've noticed a drastically reduced download speed from the store.

Google play keeps putting ads in my status bar (3-4 a day) and this morning it even put some ad icon on my "desktop" - I think that's horrible - anyone else has a problem with this?

That's due to an app you have installed that uses airpush. Remove the app and they'll stop. Try airpush detector to find out which one it is.

The "market" or "play store" (as it is called now) is not any slower. Nothing changed but the name. Your speed depends on your 3G connection or your wifi connection speeds exclusively

yeah, thats not from the Play Store. You downloaded an app that had ad notifications. You have to look at what you recently installed, i bet you its one of your recently downloaded apps. Check the reviews, people will def have complained about it.

An app called Air Push Permanent Opt Out will stop the ads

You mean 4g sir...I have trouble finding an area without full signal. So no, I doubt it was my connection speed, either something was running in the background or server side hiccup.

My play store has been quick as lightning over both 4g and wifi... haven't noticed any slowdown at all. 50 MB apps download in maybe three or four seconds.

3G/4G doesn't matter. You can have full bars and still notice considerable slow downs. If you are connected to a heavy tower you will not get your speeds like a low usage tower. Speed also depends on tower load

Yeah, I don't know why I agreed with you. The play store is just fine. No issues. I think I may have been on Wi-Fi. I feel that my Wi-fi in my house is actually slower than 4g.

I wasn't thinking about a congested tower, touche sir. I think it was either that or my phone doing background stuff.
