Google Maps?

So im leaving for the airport at 4PM eastern time and i want to double check my directions but everytime i download google maps it says its unable to download. It says Installation Unsccessful please help me ASAP!

sounds like you might just need to use adb root explorer or the like to remove the old maps apk you might have floating in system/app

i think i deleted it from rootexplorer but it still says Incompatible Update WTF!!!!

To fix this in the past I have gone into Settings, Applications, Manage Applications and deleted MAPS from there. Then reinstalled it. Reboot your phone to see if you can search now.

you also need to remove com.android.maps before you can install maps again

With Root Explorer rename /system/apps/Maps.apk

Then go to Settings > Applications > Manage Apps > menu and Filter All > then scroll down to com.google.android.maps and long pressed and click uninstall.

Reboot

Install Maps

Similar things happened to me when I installed 2.0.1 themes with xml files on top of UD8 (2.1). I had to restore to my earlier backup.
