Bit of an odd Google Maps issue, does not occur in navigation app, just maps. if i search for something and type that term in quickly, as soon as i hit enter, Google maps self-closes. no FC error, just takes me back to homescreen. google shoes that the app gets overwhelmed if you don't give it time to search for every possibility as the term grows/changes by each letter. Slow typing is supposed to be a remedy but does not always work. Wifi is supposed to remedy this as it can pull the suggestions quicker, but I don't want to need wifi to search google maps. Any suggestions regarding this? Latest version of google maps on a rooted 2.2 Droid 1, stock rom.

clear the cache/data of the app
settings --> apps --> maps
settings --> apps --> maps

doesn't help. i am able to use the browser as a quick and dirty alternative but it is not ideal.
Try uninstalling and reinstall?

When I go to the Market and find the Google Maps app, there is an Uninstall option. That doesn't uninstall Maps?

rooted stock 2.2.
Uninstalling updates won't make a difference because i've had these issues for a few updates now
