Gmail Sign In Error

I have never seen this before but I keep on getting Sign In Errors on my notification bar.
It keeps on bringing up a Captcha.
What is this?

I had the same thing happen to me on my Droid earlier today - and the same thing happen to a friend with an android phone on Sprint.

I think it was something on Google's end.

Happened to me today as well - tried to complete the captcha and failed twice - then it went away.... weird
