gmail notifications

Is it possible to get notified when you get a new gmail message? I'm forwarding my work email to a gmail account and I need to know in real time when messages are coming in. Thanks for any help!


Also, this is unrelated but is there a way to open up a similar screen to alt-tab on a PC?

Im assuming you are using the stock gmail application right?? just open the app and hit menu and setup the notifications to suit your needs. then you just have to leave your sync on when your expecting an email or all day whichever you want..

use gmail notifier it is alot better and it tells you every time you get a email
