You need to get the "update.zip" file onto your SD card. Once you do that, you're all set.

If you can download it thru the phones browser to the card, then you're all set. But I couldn't do that and had to use my laptop to download it then put it on my card.

Just type DROID x 2.3 update.zip into google. There are a lot of broken links and some mirrors have been shut down buts its still out there.
