Gingerbread

Will Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) come to the Droid X or will it most likely stay at 2.2? I was reading about the update and saw one of the biggest new features is the NFC technology. I did not know if they would ever upgrade the Droid X because I'd imagine we don't have the hardware to do the NFC transactions.

They could still update it. Think of the nfc thing as optimizing the system to add the ability for phones to be enabled with nfc. I think the x will get it along with the d2 sometime early 2011

Seems to me that the X has specs as good as practically any phone available right now. I would think the X is going to get it.

Today was the announcement.

The code won't drop to the AOSP servers for quite a while and any official update will take no time at all! (months) or is coming soon (don't hold your breath unless you're a dolphin or a whale).

The sdk dropped today. Officially you will recive it prob q1 2011 but there will be roms available beforehand.
