Ok Im thinking about finally pulling the trigger on getting a Thunderbolt. I dont know much about Rooting. I have heard though that you can get the phone to go faster, remove bloatware, free tethering, and a few others. Well the biggest thing I want to do it for is the free tethering. Is rooting your phone really all that better? I have hear that it will void your warranty. Will they void your insurance too or no? Can you unroot the phone if I was to send it back for warranty or insurance purposes? Well hope to hear from you guys soon. Im looking forward to getting the Thunderbolt hopefully soon.

Yes to all of your above questions,
faster, battery lasts longer since you can remove bloteware, tethering voiding warranty everything you mentioned above. and yes to unrooting to take it back to stock thus reapplying the warranty.

Also, insurance isn't affected by rooting :)
