Getting a fasinate

I just got rid of my Fascinate, and picked up a Droid X.
There aren't a lot of ROMs for the Fascinate, and you'll still be stuck on 2.1 (if you want everything to work) for now.
The Fascinate has a nice screen and a slightly faster GPU than the X, but the X is a much better phone overall.
I would stick with the X, or wait for the X2 or the Bionic.
Speaking of Fascinates, I have to fix my Fiancée's this weekend cause it is slower that $h!+ after the DL09 OTA update. I'll probably root it and install Super Clean ROM or something like that.

How about prefacing your OPINIONS with "I think...". It's certainly far from fact that the Droid X is "much better" than the Fascinate.

Sorry if you have a Fascinate and are bitter because your phone is still on 2.1, I've owned both phones, I know the X is a better phone. Yes it is my OPINION, but it is an opinion based on facts. Of course if you want to know exactly why the X is better. Here are the reasons why I (and many other people) believe it is better.
1) The X has a noise cancelling microphone that vastly improves call quality outdoors.
2) The X runs Froyo, therefore you have Apps2SD capability that allows you to have more applications installed (8GB vs. 2GB).
3) The screen is larger which makes it better for us old-timers to see and type.
4) The X comes with Google, the Fascinate is stuck with Bing (a search engine that has never, ever produced an accurate result for me, ever). You can root the phone to remove Bing, I think it is completely unfair to have to do that just to have a properly working phone.
5) The X has an 8MP camera, where the Fascinate has a 5MP camera. That might matter to some people. Personally, I could care less.
6) The phone is made by Motorola, and not by Samsung. Samsung has the worst reputation in the business for service after the sale. Samsung customers are always last in receiving updates/bug fixes. Look how long it took them to fix the GPS issue.

The samsungs 5mp is superior to the x's 8mp because of the better camera lense put into the fascinate (if u new anything about photography you would no a lot of picture quality is on the lense and not on the MP)
.3 inches really makes a difference right? (Sarcasm) my girlfriend has the x and its not that big a difference.
2.2 is going to be released very soon. Once it is, it'll Def be one to consider over the x

Yes, you're right Samsung cared so much about the camera they gave it a single LED flash and no hardware camera button. Having more pixels is especially important in cameras which lack optical zoom. More pixels equals more recorded information.

With this class of phones, you should expect pretty good results with the camera, but once again there are a few differences. The Motorola DROID X comes with an 8MP autofocus camera, while the Samsung Fascinate “only” has a 5MP autofocus. For capturing an image, you have the traditional 2-stop shutter button on the DROID X, so you can press it half-way to focus first, and then all the way down to take the picture. But the Fascinate instead requires you to touch the screen to focus, and then to press the camera icon on the screen to take the picture. You can actually do this on-screen focus process with the DROID X as well, but we prefer using the standard 2-stop shutter button that is provided. Viewing images that we took outside, we noticed a clear difference between them. Doesn't matter how much better your hardware is (in theory) if it is crippled by bad software. Why do you really think it took Samsung so long to get 2.2 on the Fascinate?

Exactally! Just bought an x and I'm selling my fascinate. And yes I do know the difference, I used my bf's for a few months before I made the mistake of getting this two months have been more than enough of this phone...

Jeez, they're both pretty Damn good phones right? I wasn't aware that one has to be better.
Ok I have owned both I bought the fascinate first and fell in love with the screen and the hummingbird processer. But I was very mad at Sammy for not giveing VZW the go ahead to release 2.2. The only reason I have a Droid x right now is because my wife's ally went to crap and Verizon was not going to do anything about it. So I gave her my fascinate and I got the x. They are both great phones, the screen on the fascinate KILLS the x in my opinion. But were the fascinate is lacking is the 2.2 update. I'm not going to say this phone is better hands down, because it is not they both have there pros and con. The x just works for me, and the fascinate works for my wife. Overall both a GREAT phones.

The droid x also has better video recording. Records in 720p I think it was and with the noise canceling microphone has better sound on the recordings. We actually recorded part of a metal concert we went to and the sound is as if we are there again. I have seen other peoples video of same thing on you tube and theirs sounds like was recorded on phone. Just the simple"home movies"i take of my son have bad quality sound on my fascinate yes it is my opinion but the droid x is a much better phone by far
